DONATIONS

Policy for Accepting Donations
The Library of the Foundation of the Hellenic World supports the donation of books and collections, in order to enrich its collection.
The first stage for the acceptance of the donation is the contact of the donor with the Foundation, in order to decide whether the donation will be incorporated, and under what terms, in the Library (when the donation is a collection of books). Afterwards follows a first recording of the donation, so that the Library can evaluate its size and content. However, in any case the Library is responsible for the way the donation is recorded, which means will be used, the period of time necessary, as well as the area where it will be placed.

The Foundation’s Library has, so far, received two donations of printed material (books – journals – newspapers):

  • Donation of Magda Chatzidina, President of the Friends Association of the Foundation of the Hellenic World, 322 titles of books (19 July 2007).
  • Donation of Drosoula Angelopoulou-Mirivili of a part of her father’s personal library, the great Greek novelist of the 30s, Stratis Mirivilis, 3,237 titles of books and journals. (9 June 2008)
  • Donation of Virginia Matseli of 117 book titles from the field of World Theatre (recording of the collection December 2009 – January 2010).
  • Donation of Charalabos and Vasso Penna of 550 book titles and magazines. The collection includes books mainly historical, archaeological, books about excavations and traveling, and some literary ones (the collection was obtained on the 11th of June 2010).
